spends up to $100 a month buying new clothes (at 9 cents to $7 apiece) and hairstyles ($5.70) for her digital double.

Suddenly it looks as if Second Life, that 3D virtual world that last year became a favorite hangout for hard-core techies and trend-watching corporations,
has competition. A new crop of online multiplayer games is coming, targeting a broader audience with simpler navigation and customization than Second Life.
These games also rule out lewd behavior. The companies behind them have a novel way of making money, selling digital goods such as avatars and their outfits.
The games themselves are free.

The mainstreaming of virtual worlds started, as so many consumer-tech stories do, in the Far East. MapleStory, from Korean online game maker Nexon Corp., has
been a hit in Asia since 2003. The company U.S. arm began marketing a North American version last September, riding the virtual-world bandwagon after
Second Life started grabbing headlines. It now has more than 3 million North American players, joining a further 50 million worldwide. Nexon is best known
for KartRider, a three-year-old online go-cart racing game that has been wildly popular in South Korea. A U.S. version is due out later this year. In 2005,
Nexon had worldwide revenues of $230 million, 85% of it from virtual items.

Starting in the fall, Sony Corp. (SNE ) will offer PlayStation Home—a realistic 3D online world where players can buy digital items such as T-shirts and
Sony Brevia TVs—as a free download for its PlayStation 3 videogame console. And Nintendo of America is betting on the free, easy-to-design avatar feature of
its popular Wii console to attract older nongamers.

The rise of the avatars coincides with explosive growth for Massively multiplayer online games in general. The category, which includes technically simple
and nonviolent Casual games as well as more graphically complex shooter games, is expected to produce revenues of $760 million this year in North America
alone, and nearly triple that in four years, says videogame researcher DFC Intelligence.

A SNAP TO OPERATE
The new multiplayer games are tailored for nontechies. Simple images in MapleStory and KartRider do not require sophisticated graphics cards or ultrafast
Internet connections. Avatar details are a snap to customize with drop-down menus for selecting things like Cutie hair pigtails or red rubber boots.

Nexon waited to court American players until Broadband reached critical mass, says John H. Chi, Nexon America Inc. president and CEO. But the company
also needs to broaden its market. KartRider popularity in Korea has been waning—as many as 100,000 Koreans log on at a time today, vs. 200,000 in 2005.

Now the question is, will Americans spend real money in virtual worlds? (Older games rake in subions or down- load fees.) MapleStory was a litmus test
to see if U.S. audiences would have spending patterns similar to Korea, says Min Kim, Nexon America director of game operations. To make it easy, Nexon
Cash cards, which are used to buy digital goods, are being sold at Target (TGT ) stores.

I want to use a private server called crimestory and when i extracted its thing and i put it in the maplestory folder it didn’t work. I double clicked the .exe file but it would show a black screen as if something was loading and then it would just come back to my desktop.

When players first get into maplestory would all want to know good places to train ,this time I would like to collect good places for level 1-70 players train in Maplestory,hope you can have a visit at this guide!

1~10.At this level it is really simple,just keep doing quest given in maple island and you will be changing job in no time.

10~21. At this level go to the slime you might need some pots though,if u are new to this game and has no money no worries go do the beginner quest your job masters gives u.Remember this though-NEVER resort to begging as you will be looked down at.So after training at slimes till level 15 if you’re still not bored continue training there,who knows you may just get a cape for Dex scroll 100% which can be sold for quite much,for a just started that is. If you’re tired of slimes already go kill pigs in pig beach you can find lots of pigs running about at that place perfect for training,be careful of the iron pig though being a if you’re under 45 or so it may be very hard to kill it so if u see one just change channel .

21~31.At this level you can go do kerning party quest already congratulations , the requirement for this quest is that you need to have at 4 person in your party( from the level range of 21-30(Note:you can still do it at level 30, if you want to that is.)Well just keep doing this part quest till you’re level 30/31 don’t forget to do your job advancement ounce you reach level 30 though.

31~35.Ounce you reach this boring level(as you cannot do any party quest) just go to the mini dungeon which horned mush and zombie mush resides.You have to be a Area Of effect damage dealer though as it will be flooding with monster on each platforms.Well or u can just do some normal quest to get their experience,it will be very very very boring though unless doing jumping quest.

35~51.At this level it is very simple just do ludibrim Party Quest u may get a eye equipment which is limitless.

(The other way to get to 51)30~51.This is another option which is BETTER though just keep doing MC(monster carnival)or keep buying the services.

51~70.Go orbis party quest or just keep training at Singapore(if you are a maple sea user),if not keep training at coolie.

How Do i fix a black screen error code while openign up a maplestory private server client?

Whenever i play a v62 maplestory server it always have a problem.i double clicked on the client and I always get a black screen and then an error code after that.
i cannot fix this problem ive tried everything.
i’ve done eveyrthing but it keep on doing the error code.
I tried redownloading and all that, and the setup but nothing happens.
Please help, i really want to play. help me solve plox

Updated 1/30/09 Due to copyright issues i had to audio swap the song. The song used to be Dj Icey -Escape, so it pretty much threw the video off now but i picked another song. ———————— Information About the Quest. High Quality: www.youtube.com Mount – Hog Pre-requisites: Level 70, third job 1. Go to Aqua Road and talk to Kenta. She wants you to collect 5 books and 5 crystals. 2. Talk to her again to enter a special arena. 3. In this arena will be a hog that you have to protect. During this protection quest, the hog will randomly drop the 5 crystals. The other 5 books you must collect by destroying treasure chests (similar to Zakum PQ) throughout the map. If the 5 minute timer runs out before you have all of the items or if the hog dies, you will be sent out of the arena to do the quest again. 4. After successfully completing step 3, talk to Kenta again. She will give you the Mount skill, 32k experience, and a saddle. 5. Talk to Kenta again, and she’ll give you another quest to obtain a special purple potion. 6. Go to the Village Chief in Leafre and purchase the potion from him for 20 million mesos. 7. Return to Kenta and she will give you the quest to obtain your hog. 8. Go to a special map near Korean Folk Town. 9. The hog spawns just like a boss monster (ex: Jr. Balrog or Mushmom). Once you see the hog spawn, double-click on the purple potion you bought to catch it. If you use your purple potion and there is no pig to catch, you will have to pay another …

Poison is also an option in this job, but most simply choose to stay away from it and place their SP into more useful skills, as this is phased out instantly in the Third Job Advance.

Leveling(cheap maplestory mesos) with a Poison Wizard is difficult. The highest level Poison Wizard on beta only reached level 42. Fire Wizards spend most of their time sniping ice monsters from afar with their magical instruments of burning death. They tend to Teleport from monster to monster, killing from afar and near when strategically advantageous. Slow is an essential skill to them as well, as it allows Fire Arrow the time it needs to destroy mobs of, say, Jr. Yetis.

A note on maxed Poison Breath: Only after Fire Arrow has been maxed a Fire Wizard might consider the option of maxing out Poison Breath. With a base damage of 70, a 60% mastery, and a magician with roughly 175 m attack and about 35 luck this skill can deal about 347-578 Poison damage while actual poisoning does 70 hp damage or 1/40th the enemies hp. This can allow a Fire Mage to deal with some Fire creatures they normally would not be able. There are roughly 12 enemies weak to Poison.
